There are a number of solutions for connecting your PC or other device to your i760's Internet connection. The supported approaches require installing a product called 'VZAccess', which is flakey and technically unnecessary. VerizonGuy posted a solution which bypasses VZAccess but requires using the USB cable to produce a virtual Modem.
But the most elegant solution in my opinion is one provided by Jorrit Jongma, named WMWifiRouter. Below is the information I used to make this application work with the Samsung SCH-i760.
What Will I Need?
- A tool for modifying your device's registry. There are a number of free products such as Softonic's Editor. My personal favorite, which is not free, is part of SOTI Inc's Pocket Controller.
- The WMWifiRouter Software
- Internet-Connection Sharing (ICS) installer available here
- Although it is recommended to download these files from the source, they can also be obtained here.
What steps should I take?
- Start by reading this entire thread
- Install the ICS Application according to instructions from the above thread
- Download the attached ZIP file
- Extract it somewhere on your computer
- Copy the CAB, EXE and BIN file to your mobile device
- Install the CAB (just run it)
- Run ICSInstall.exe
- Click "Patch"
- Wait 'til it says "Done"
- Close the program
- Soft-reset
- Modify registry according to instructions In the above thread. I have made a reg file containing these entries as well.
- Install WM Wifi Router using your favorite method. (Activesync, direct download of CAB, etc.) More Information here
- Start the Wifi Router
- Connect the PC to the Wifi Network
- Rejoice!
